Meeting Minutes, 6/12/07

Ignition NW Board Meeting 6/12/7

Critical Massive

  • Next leads meeting Wed Jun 13, 2007
  • 12,300, 1st tier sold, most of 2nd tier, approx 200 sold
  • Corprew would like a future public conversation about “radical self-entitlement”
  • Comp policy for board members has never been clearly stated. What is it?
  • Ivan speaks for production team: no comps for board members this year
  • Brian to write policy statement based on Steven Raspa
  • Board to vote on Brian’s policy statement at next meeting to decide permanent policy
  • Comp policy for artists is also unclear. What is it? Has been stated as no comps for artists.
  • Dane: artist reduced tix have been offered last two years. Unclear policy is unfair.
  • Randy: reduced artist tix reasonable and usually expected
  • Kay: Are there artists who will not return if no discount/comp?
  • Big question: has policy been published?
  • Heather: unpublished policy is not policy
  • Comes down to: $10k in art grants was in error, we’ve overspent
  • Ivan speaks for production team: no artist reductions/comps this year
  • General agreement that the board is responsible for budget error, and must fix this and state policy clearly for future
  • Brian suggests Friday night grilled cheese/tomato soup line. Board: no budget for it.
  • Suggestion: INW board dunk tank for future fund raising event
  • Board vote: INW board project for CM? Vote: no.

Elections

  • Elections are go
  • Close on Friday the 22nd

Website

  • Major changes frozen until after CM
  • Corprew not making major changes to site until Secretary position is passed on
  • Position changes at next retreat, Sept/Oct
  • Logo designer needs to clean up logo for final, fix vector & text
  • Did logo designer get his comp CM ticket?

Strategic Plan

  • Eric Shinfeld wrote impressive 9 page doc
  • Comments were worked in
  • Ali was to bring for vote, not present
  • Next step: present to people who participated in focus group
  • Kay to forward to focus group
  • Will use to develop policy over next 2 years

Burien

  • Good job, Dane!
  • Dane recommends Horsehead installation at Strawberry fest
  • Dane has meeting two weeks from now to finalize temporary art proposal

Rainier Vista

  • Kay: Plan in place to be executed by end of September
  • Talked to RV, BRAF and Tabasco, to make steel bench + steel tree for RV

Pride

  • Annalisa Guist asked to rent Ignition sound system, for money, and for board announcement
  • Board agreed to lend sound, no money, and invited Lisa to make her own announcement
  • Randy: OT how much do we charge to rent sound system? Dane: $200
  • Heather: can we announce that CM is not in competition with Pride?
  • General board position is to not get involved in Pride split
  • Ok for board members to post as individuals, not as board rep

Regional Orgs mailing list

  • Corprew: regional orgs want their own mailing list independent of BM & regional reps
  • To be run by Corprew on INW site
  • Dane: responsibilities? Ownership if Corprew leaves?
  • If Corprew leaves, list to be handed to another lead ranger.
  • Some concern voiced about clarity of list roles
  • Kay & Dane request clear written description of list rules, policies & membership

CPR Classes

  • Corpew: BM sponsors CPR classes in SF, would like to sponsor in Seattle
  • If BMORG doesn’t, would like Ignition to sponsor
  • No $ cost

OT

  • Dane: South King County arts commission wants to do something like what Burien’s doing
  • Tukwila, Kent, etc have $300k in arts money
  • Dane contacted by 4Culture
  • Donating $ to INW: Heather donated w/matching via Shunpike

I highly disagree with Comps to the events for the Board members or for artists. We are all participants.
