CLEAN FREAKS - Don't freek out just yet! Did you know we have use of shower facilities at LARC? It's true. We invite you to take a nice warm shower when you feel that your carcass needs washing. Please be respectful of these privelages by remaining mindful of others who are waiting their turn to shower and please help out with the septic system by limiting your showers to 2 - 3 minutes. Did you know a 5 minute shower with a standard shower head uses 12.5 gallons of water!? Imagine having to haul your own 12.5 gallons of water to the shower... CRAZY. Thanks for your participation and your cooperation! Tumbleweed

And now, a few words from your 2009 event producer, ...

Gathering the what?
This year's event will focus on driving our community together. We will be a tribe for five days. Some will paint their bodies with tattoos of the tribe and compare them with fellow tribes-members. Some will look beyond the party and into the interpersonal relationships that shape our community by participating in workshops, games and performances that bring people together and encourage meeting new people. Many theme camps will participate in a special burn ceremony by committing to keeping a flame alive. Throughout the event they will tend their flame and on burn night the flames will come together and ignite our burn ceremony. We really want to encourage the strengthening of the bonds we share with one-another. The intent is to help people to realize how fortunate they are to be surrounded with such creativity, beauty, laughter and mayhem; because lets face it: NOBODY has friends like WE have friends. LOVE.

Always Consult Your Burner Field Guide!
This year, rather than having just a What Where When, Charles Evans has stepped up with a great idea and the volunteer skills to back it up. He thought why not give the participants something they can use again and again rather than just creating paper for the event that will get disposed of afterwards. Enter: The Burner Field Guide. The field guide would be a yearly booklet given to participants that would include the usual WWW info but also useful burner stuff to. Examples so far have included: useful knots (securing loads, tying off structures, etc), how to fire proof fabric using alum, 10-Code, Secret Decoder Wheel for leaving cryptic messages in Center Camp, identification of useful or dangerous plants that are indigenous to the area, units of measure conversion table, etc.
